“GO HOME!” (Mark 2:1-12)

INTRODUCTION Today’s Special: “Cat Got Your Tongue?”
“Jenny!” screamed her mother, “why are you feeding birdseed to the cat?”
“I have to,” Jenny replied. “That’s where my canary is.”

Christmas is a time to go home. For many of you, this may be the major time of the year to get together with family that perhaps you haven’t seen since last Christmas. 20 years ago, we took a plane trip home from Florida the day before Christmas. We were in 3 different terminals during our journey, and in each terminal, there were wild greetings and expressions of joy like I had never noticed before. Going home. Today’s passage talks about going home. Jesus went home. Let’s see to where. PRAYER

INTRODUCTION Today’s Special: “Money Talks”
A one-dollar bill met a twenty-dollar bill and said, “Hey, where’ve you been? I haven’t seen you around here much.”
The twenty answered, “I’ve been hanging out at the casinos, went on a cruise and did the rounds of the ship, back to the United States for awhile, went to a couple of baseball games, to the mall, that kind of stuff. How about you?”
The one-dollar bill said, “You know, same old stuff … church, church, church.”

INTRODUCTION Today’s Special: “A Bike Funny” [pasted below message]
Today we continue our Christmas series on the topic of “gifts.” While there are at least 158 uses of the word in the Scriptures, I have 2 main guidelines which narrowed down which verses to use: #1 The gifts must be identified, and #2 The gifts must be able to be related to the Christmas story or to the gospel. I believe today’s passage fits the criteria. PRAYER

INTRODUCTION Today’s Special: “A Reindeer Funny”
Did you know that according to the song, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, Santa has twelve reindeer?
Sure, in the introduction it goes “There’s Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen…” That makes eight reindeer.
Then there’s Rudolph, of course, so that makes nine.
Then there’s Olive. You know, “Olive the other reindeer used to laugh…” That makes ten.
The eleventh is Howe. You know, “Then Howe the reindeer loved him…” Eleven reindeer.
Oh, and number 12? That’s Andy! “Andy shouted out with glee.”
The proof is in the song!
